Solar Micro-grid Project
On 11th October, 2022, SINOSOAR received the tender notification from Employer awarding the 500 kWp solar micro-grid project in Suriname. SINOSOAR will be responsible for the design, supply, installation, commissioning as well as the subsequent operation and maintenance services.
Suriname is advancing toward a more sustainable country, aiming to provide affordable, secure, and clean electricity to its citizens. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been a key partner providing technical and financial support for Suriname. On 8th February, 2020, IDB signed a new loan agreement with the Ministry of Finance & Planning of Suriname namely Consolidating a Sustainable Energy Sector, with an amount of US$ 30 Million. The general objective of the agreement is to improve the rural economic development, by ensuring adequate and modern access to sustainable electricity to enhance the living conditions of the rural population while improving the rural business environment with better provision of electricity as a public service.
The 500 kWp solar micro-grid project
This newly awarded micro-grid project is to construct a 500kWp solar plant in a town of the Brokopondo District. The town is currently connected to the utility grid but the power quality is poor, hampering the economic development of the village. The situation is expected to worsen due to the growth of power demand. The new solar micro-grid plant solution is expected to improve the quality, security and reliability of the electricity supply, with more renewable energy .
With the signing of the 2019 China-Suriname cooperation plan on jointly promoting the construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the signing of a number of cooperation documents such as comprehensive mutual visa exemptions, the infrastructure cooperation between the two sides is in full swing. As a leading enterprise in micro-grid industry, SINOSOAR has completed a 2.3MW PV-BESS-GENSET project in Suriname early June this year and the project has been inaugurated in the presence of the President of Suriname and the Chinese Ambassador to Suriname. The winning of the new project is another international recognition of SINOSOAR’s products and technology services, as well as a solid step for SINOSOAR’s development in the Latin America market.
