December 19 (Renewables Now) - The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) on Monday announced intentions to launch a tender for the addition of up to 10 GW of floating solar power capacity in the next three years.
The state-owned entity intends to invite Expression of Interest (EOI) so as to gather information about the feasibility of the projects that will be developed on a build, own and operate basis (BOO). The proposed capacity will be installed in phases at locations identified by SECI, the agency said.
Solar project developers will be required to design, build, test and commission their plants. Winning parties will be awarded long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with local utilities.
SECI was set up in 2011 to help deliver the targets of the country's Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) under which India aims to lift its installed solar capacity to 100 GW by 2022.
