B.Grimm and Xuan Cau to develop Southeast Asia’s largest solar project
Thailand’s B.Grimm Power has signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam’s Xuan Cau to develop the largest solar PV project in Southeast Asia, standing at 420MW capacity in Tay Ninh, southwest Vietnam.

The MENA region is growing fast and most of the key challenges of the coming decades are tied to the population itself. By the end of the century, the MENA region will host double the number of people in Europe and at the same time, the MENA region is going to grow older. 

India saw more utility-scale PV tenders in Q1 2018 than in entire 2017 – Bridge To India
India saw the issuance of 13 new utility-scale solar PV tenders totaling 11,945 MW in the quarter ending March 31, 2018, which is 68% more than in the entire of 2017. However, tender capacity for rooftop solar PV (greater than 1 MW in size) was down 50%, at 102 MW.

SoftBank nears deal with India on $60bn solar project
SoftBank Group is in late-stage talks with India’s government on building a solar power plant there, with part of the funding coming from the Japanese technology company’s Saudi-backed Vision Fund.

Changing climate policy in Asia
Climate change is one of the most serious threats to the world today. The global average surface temperature in 2017 was the third highest on record, behind 2016 and 2015. There is now an unequivocal scientific view that the increase in the frequency of extreme weather events is due at least partly to climate change. For nearly three decades world leaders have discussed ways to mitigate climate change phenomena, but they have made little progress so far.

Samsung joins global pledge to increase renewable energy use
Samsung Electronics Co., the world's biggest smartphone maker, joined on Thursday a growing list of companies that are promising to increase their use of solar and other renewable energy to help curb global warming.
