CLP India, one of the largest foreign investors in the Indian power sector, and Suzlon, India's largest renewable energy solutions provider, today announced a joint venture for two solar projects of 50 MW and 20 MW in Dhule, Maharashtra. 

World Bank, Jordan to promote concentrating solar heat
The World Bank and the Ministry of Environment of Jordan will co-host a conference on September 18-19 focused on the industrial and commercial potential of Concentrating Solar Heat (CSH) at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Amman.

Sony to source all its energy from renewables by 2040
 Sony plans to have all the energy it uses come from renewable sources by 2040, up from the current level of 7%, aiming to enhance corporate value as more investors and consumers place greater weight on environmental friendliness.?

Shu Yinbiao, chairman of the State Grid, China's main power supplier, said the company would strengthen grid construction including power transmission and transformation engineering construction, as well as urban power grid construction and renovation projects in Africa.?

Oman boasts huge potential for solar power growth
In an exclusive interview with Muscat Daily, Marwan Chaar, vice president of project development at GlassPoint Solar, spoke about the potential of solar power in heavy oil production. He said the increasing use of solar power in oil exploration in Oman could make additional gas available for commercial utilisations and make production more feasible.
